This collection of letters was compiled in conjunction with our 2005 “Bishops Speak to the Renewal” Conference, in which we invited bishops to speak directly to members of Catholic Charismatic Renewal by offering their insights, comments and recommendations.

The first edition contains responses of nearly 50 bishops. Since then approximately 20 additional letters were received and have been incorporated into the newest edition. As a result, this booklet is a powerful tool to use in discerning the direction of the Renewal for the future. It provides an exceptional resource to help you respond to the callfor evangelization, and enable you to communicate more effectively an understanding of the power of the Holy Spirit in people’s daily lives.

We highly recommend that you pray about the information it contains to determine what the Lord may be asking you to do in your own area/diocese. It may be useful to provide a copy to your local pastor and/or bishop and then follow up with a meeting to see

how you or your prayer group can serve.

Anyone, at any time, may copy, reprint and publish the letter from the bishop of his or her own

diocese. Excerpts of letters from other bishops may be reprinted on an ongoing basis, but are

limited to no more than one paragraph of any particular letter at any one time.
